There’s something truly special about gathering people who are passionate about making a difference. This past week, we felt it again — that familiar spark of purpose and hope — as we successfully hosted our third MOT Coaches’ Basic Education training for 2025, held from 11–13 April.
It was more than just a training. It was a space of connection, reflection, laughter, learning — and most importantly, growth.
A group of dedicated educators joined us through our beautiful partnership with the Positive Behaviour Intervention and Resource Centre (PBIRC), supported by the Western Cape Education Department (WCED). Each one came with a story, a reason for being there, and a heart ready to serve.
MOT Coaches during an ice breaker activity
About the MOT Coaches’ Basic Education
Becoming a MOT Coach is no small thing. It’s a journey that starts with one decision — the choice to lead with love, to empower with intention, and to see every young person not just as a student, but as a human being full of potential.
Through the MOT Coaches’ Basic Education training, these educators stepped into a space where they were reminded of their own worth and power, and how much they have to offer the young people in their classrooms and communities.
It was beautiful to witness how quickly they embraced MOT’s philosophy of showing courage, care, and a strong sense of self-awareness. They learned not only how to deliver MOT sessions but how to live the MOT values in every interaction — becoming role models for the next generation.
MOT Coaches during an activity
What did we get up to during the 3 days?
From the very first day, the energy was electric. Educators shared stories, stepped out of their comfort zones, and built new friendships grounded in trust and shared purpose.
Day 1 was all about breaking down barriers and creating safe spaces where connection could flourish.
Day 2 deepened that connection as participants explored the heart and history of MOT — how it began, and why it continues to touch lives around the world.
Day 3 brought it all together in practical, hands-on ways as our future MOT Coaches led their very first sessions with courage and creativity.
Highlights from the training
Some of the most meaningful moments came when the participants reflected on their own inner journeys:
“The life shield activity reminded me that I still have dreams – and that I owe it to myself to keep chasing them.”
“This training reignited my creativity. It showed me that I can teach life skills in a way that’s real, raw, and relatable.”
“I was reminded that our learners carry invisible backpacks – full of burdens we can’t always see. I now know how to meet them with more compassion.”
“I left each day feeling more connected, more inspired, and more hopeful about the future of our youth.”
A Shared Vision
Through our partnership with PBIRC and the WCED, we are not only equipping educators — we are building a movement of hearts that believe in young people.
PBIRC’s mission to create safer, more nurturing school environments beautifully aligns with MOT’s vision of raising resilient, courageous youth who can confidently face life’s challenges.
Together, we are creating something that lasts, not just for today, but for generations to come.
To the newly trained MOT Coaches: thank you for showing up with open hearts.
Thank you for choosing to lead with love. You are now part of a family that believes in the power of courage, care, and community.
We cannot wait to see the magic you bring to your classrooms and communities. The ripple effect of your passion and purpose has only just begun.
